The mission of the Deacon Ministry is to implement the Church’s mission, as given by the divine inspiration of our Pastor and to support him by assisting all church ministries through teaching Christian doctrine and practicing biblical principles. In accordance to the meaning, the work and practice of the New Testament Church, a Deacon is a servant to the Church (see Acts 6:3).

The Deacon Ministry has implemented a Family Plan to address the physical and spiritual needs of our growing congregation. The Family Plan is accomplished by the Deacon and Deaconess Ministries partnering with the Pastor and Ministerial staff to serve the needs of the Mount Zion Baptist Church Family.

The Family Plan aims to strengthen the church/congregant relationship by assigning each family or individual member a Deacon/Deaconess by alphabetic sorting. Your assigned Deacon/ Deaconess will serve you through prayer, visitations, crisis support, sharing information about the Faith and ministry, assisting you as you seek to find your place to serve in the Kingdom. The Family Plan, under the leadership and stewardship of the Pastor, helps to ensure that each member and family of our Christian Fellowship experiences the Love, nurture and support needed to become a Kingdom Focused Disciple of Jesus Christ. To access the Family Plan, click here.

Trustee Ministry

The Trustee Ministry serves as the legal fiduciaries of the Church and manages and safeguards the assets, facilities, and property according with the policies of the Church. Additionally, the Trustees make recommendations to the Church and Official Board on financial, property, human capital management, legal and contract matters.

The Official Board consists of the Church Clerk, Deacons, Deaconess Chair, Pastor, Treasurer and Trustees. This body convenes primarily to consider major matters and make appropriate recommendations to the Church membership. Upon the membership not being able to convene, the Official Board may be required to act upon specific matters of the Church.

CHILDREN, YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT

The mission of the Children, Youth & Young Adult Ministries is to embrace and encourage children (ages 3-5th grade), youth (6th-12th grade) and young adults (18-35 years old) to cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through relevant teaching, worship, witness, and service. The Mount Zion Children, Youth & Young Adult Ministries are comprised of the following sub-ministries and entities for children, teens, and young adults:

CREATIVE ARTS

The mission of the Creative Arts Ministries is to glorify God, serve as worship leaders, and set an atmosphere of praise & worship (through music, instruments and fine arts) so that the Word of God is received, the people of God are edified and those seeking Christ are drawn into a relationship with Him. The Creative Arts Ministries are comprised of the following sub-ministries for children, youth and adults:
